What good is wearing a safety harness if you don’t tie it off?
That’s what some people are asking after reading about the death of a 38- year-old drilling rig worker who fell 90 feet (27 meters) to his death in Fort Worth, TX, recently.
Officials report that Charles Mannon was handling pipe from a rig platform when he lost his balance and fell.
According to oil company XTO Energy, Mannon was wearing a fall protection harness but failed to attach the lanyard (in the derrick) to his harness
