A mechanic working for a snowmobile dealer was killed on a test drive. He had worked on the machine, and was trying it out on a public snowmobile trail near his workplace. He was traveling at a high rate of speed when the snowmobile hit a snowdrift on the trail. The driver was thrown through the air, striking a tree. The snowmobile continued without him until it became stuck in the snow. Another snowmobiler found the operator and called for emergency help. The mechanic was pronounced dead after he was taken to a hospital.
Do you know the safe way to test any machinery you have repaired? Your employer should have safe and effective methods for you to follow.
