ESTADÍSTICAS

  • Un tercio de los alumnos fallecidos en accidentes relacionados con el transporte escolar murieron al acercarse o bajarse del autobús, a menudo en los ángulos muertos del conductor.
  • Un estudio reveló que nueve de cada diez distritos escolares de EE.UU. y Canadá no utilizan actualmente sistemas de cámaras de 360 grados para detectar a los niños en las paradas de los autobuses escolares, por lo que dependen de los espejos y de la vigilancia del conductor.
  • Entre 2010 y 2021, los conductores de autobús y los pasajeros fueron los más propensos a sufrir lesiones mientras viajaban en el autobús, con aproximadamente 24,7 lesiones por año reportadas. Alrededor del 38% de estas lesiones se debieron a sucesos ajenos a la colisión, como frenazos bruscos.
  • En 2021, los accidentes relacionados con autobuses escolares en EE.UU. se saldaron con 108 víctimas mortales, entre ocupantes de otros vehículos, pasajeros de autobuses, conductores y peatones.
  • Una nueva encuesta de la AA ha revelado que el 44% de los conductores cree que su vehículo tiene un peligroso ángulo muerto.
  • Las estadísticas de seguridad vial sugieren que se trata de un problema cada vez más grave, con casi 1.000 accidentes en 2022 relacionados con automovilistas que culpan al ángulo muerto de sus vehículos.
