An offshore oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico was the site of a helicopter accident that killed one passenger and seriously injured the pilot. The helicopter (carrying a pilot and three passengers) crashed while attempting to land on an offshore platform. While everyone was able to exit the helicopter, one passenger died as a result of the accident. Although the exact cause of death wasn’t determined immediately, it was reported the victim may have been struck by the helicopter’s rotor blade. The other two passengers suffered minor injuries.
