Peligros de los incendios en restaurantes

  1. Las llamas, el calor y el humo de un incendio en un restaurante pueden causar quemaduras, problemas respiratorios y otras lesiones físicas a empleados y clientes.
  2. Los incendios pueden causar grandes daños al edificio, al equipo y al inventario de un restaurante.
  3. Incluso si un incendio no causa daños materiales importantes, puede obligar a un restaurante a cerrar temporalmente, con la consiguiente pérdida de ingresos y daños a la reputación del restaurante.
  4. El humo de un incendio puede impregnar el mobiliario y la ropa, dejando un olor acre difícil de eliminar.
  5. Los incendios en restaurantes pueden liberar sustancias químicas tóxicas en el aire, lo que supone una amenaza para la salud.
  6. El agua utilizada para extinguir un incendio puede causar importantes daños en el edificio, los equipos y el inventario.
  7. Los incendios pueden dañar el cableado y los equipos eléctricos, con el consiguiente riesgo de descarga eléctrica.

ESTADÍSTICAS

  • En 2021, los cuerpos de bomberos respondieron a 1.353.500 incendios, que “causaron 3.800 muertes de civiles, 14.700 heridos civiles y 15.900 millones de dólares en daños materiales”.
  • Los incendios en restaurantes provocan aproximadamente 165 millones de dólares en daños a la propiedad cada año.
  • Los departamentos de bomberos respondieron a una media de 8.240 incendios en restaurantes cada año.
  • Los equipos de cocina son la principal causa de incendios en restaurantes, representando el 61% de los incendios en establecimientos de comidas y bebidas.
  • La distribución eléctrica y los equipos de iluminación son la segunda causa principal de incendios en restaurantes, representando el 9% de los incendios.
  • Cerca del 40% de los incendios en restaurantes comienzan en la cocina, siendo la zona de cocción el área específica de origen en más de dos tercios de estos incendios.
  • La mitad de los incendios en restaurantes se producen entre las 17 y las 21 horas, durante la hora punta de la cena.
  • El 29% de los incendios en restaurantes se propagan más allá del objeto o zona de origen.
  • La mayoría de las muertes en incendios en restaurantes se producen en fuegos que se inician en la cocina.
