1. A UTV is relatively safe to drive despite the lack of protective carriages.
2. Both the driver and passengers are afforded very little protection, head injuries are a common result in UTV accidents.
3. While UTV are relatively safe when operated properly, they pose a significant risk when drivers are careless or reckless.
4. UTVs come with seat belts, roll bars, and sometimes doors and windshields, whereas ATVs have none of those things.

STATS

• Approximately 263 000 rear seat passengers riding in passenger cars or light trucks were injured during motor vehicle crashes in the US.
• Shoulder safety belt use prevalence was only 47% for rear seat occupants, compared to 80% for front – seat occupants.
• In 2018, a total of six people died in UTV, down from 12 people the previous year.
