QUÉ ESTÁ EN RIESGO

Hay peligros que no provocan sangrado, quemaduras ni fracturas, sino que te van desgastando poco a poco. Año tras año, van mermando tu audición, tu circulación, tus nervios y tu sueño. Para cuando te das cuenta del daño causado por el ruido y las vibraciones, suele ser ya permanente.

CUÁL ES EL PELIGRO

Las lesiones causadas por el ruido y las vibraciones se desarrollan de forma lenta y silenciosa, y eso es precisamente lo que las hace tan peligrosas.

Pérdida Auditiva Inducida por el Ruido

La exposición prolongada a niveles superiores a 85 decibelios daña de forma permanente las diminutas células ciliadas del oído interno. No hay dolor, no hay un momento concreto en el que se produzca la lesión y no hay forma de que esas células se regeneren. Los trabajadores a menudo se dan cuenta de que han perdido audición solo cuando les cuesta seguir las conversaciones en casa.

Síndrome de Vibración Mano-brazo

Las herramientas eléctricas transmiten vibraciones a los dedos, las manos y los brazos con cada minuto de uso. Con el tiempo, los pequeños vasos sanguíneos se contraen y los nervios se inflaman. La sensación de entumecimiento o el blanqueamiento de las yemas de los dedos después del trabajo son una señal de alerta temprana que nunca debe ignorarse.

Vibración de Todo el Cuerpo

  • Compresión espinal por pasar muchas horas en maquinaria pesada
  • Irritación discal por terrenos irregulares y asientos incómodos
  • Dolor de espalda crónico que acaba con las carreras profesionales prematuramente

Tinnitus y Riesgo de Comunicación

El zumbido persistente en los oídos no se detiene cuando termina el turno: acompaña al trabajador a casa y perturba el sueño, la concentración y el estado de ánimo. Cuando el ruido de fondo ahoga las alarmas y las advertencias gritadas, el peligro silencioso se convierte en uno de acción rápida.

COMO PROTEGERSE

El daño se puede prevenir, pero solo si se toma la exposición de bajo nivel tan en serio como una lesión repentina.

Utilice Correctamente la Protección Auditiva

Elija el índice de reducción de ruido adecuado para la tarea y asegúrese de que los tapones estén completamente insertados y enrollados antes de colocarlos. Las orejeras deben quedar bien ajustadas alrededor de toda la oreja, sin que el cabello ni las patillas de las gafas interrumpan el contacto. Por encima de los 100 decibelios, combine tapones y orejeras para obtener una protección adecuada.

Tómese Descansos de las Vibraciones

Alterne las tareas a lo largo del turno para que la exposición a las vibraciones se interrumpa con tiempo de recuperación. Establezca límites de tiempo de uso de las herramientas y cúmplalos, incluso cuando la presión de la producción lo empuje a seguir trabajando. El cuerpo se repara a sí mismo entre exposiciones solo si se le da la oportunidad.

Elija Herramientas y Configuraciones con Menos Vibración

  • Guantes antivibración y empuñaduras en buen estado
  • Equipos equilibrados con filos de corte afilados
  • Asientos aislados y bien ajustados en maquinaria pesada

Conozca sus Límites de Exposición

Los niveles de acción para el ruido y la vibración están establecidos en la normativa y se aplican a todos los lugares de trabajo donde existen estos riesgos. Si no conoce sus límites, pregunte a su supervisor o a su comité de salud y seguridad: tiene derecho a saberlo.

Hágase Pruebas de Audición Anuales

Los audiogramas detectan la pérdida auditiva temprana antes de que se vuelva permanente e irreversible. Saltarse la prueba no hace que el daño desaparezca, solo lo oculta de usted.

CONCLUSIÓN

No puedes regenerar las células ciliadas del oído ni reparar un disco dañado de la columna vertebral. Los peligros silenciosos se llevan lo que quieren y nunca lo devuelven. Protege lo que aún te queda: cada día, en cada turno, con cada herramienta.
