One week after he answered a “help wanted” sign in a pizza shop window, a young man died of injuries from a motor vehicle crash.
He was making a delivery near the pizza place, which was also his home neighborhood. He was driving his dad’s car, which went out of control on a curve in the rain-slicked road. He wasn’t wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and when the emergency crew arrived he was outside the vehicle, expressing concern about the damage. Severe injuries to his head and abdomen led to his death later in a hospital.
Motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of workplace fatalities. Seatbelts are necessary on every trip, even those close to home.
