Two people were killed and a third person was injured while engaged in car repairs in a garage where a propane heater was operating. Gasoline spilled from a vehicle’s fuel tank and its vapors exploded when they came in contact with the red-hot heater. Neighbors reported hearing an explosion and then seeing high flames shooting from the structure. Although this double-fatality did not occur in a workplace, it easily could have and should serve as a strong reminder to keep flammables well away from heat sources in all work settings.
