Man dies in crash following mechanical failure in vehicle
MORGAN COUNTY — A Barnett man was killed Saturday after troopers said he crashed his truck following a mechanical failure.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol crash report indicated 61-year-old Billy Scrivner was headed eastbound on Highway 52 when his 2002 Ford Excursion suffered a mechanical failure.
Troopers said this caused Scrivner’s vehicle to cross the center line and travel off the roadway into a field where the vehicle overturned several times. The crash occurred near Buttercup Road. Scrivner was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger riding in Scrivner’s vehicle sustained serious injuries and was taken to Capital Region Hospital.
The crash report stated neither were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
