Man Suffers Fatal Work-related Injuries in Landscaping Accident

No workplace in Pennsylvania or other area of the country is completely devoid of risk to employees. While certain measures can be put in place to protect workers, they cannot all be eliminated, especially in high-risk occupations. In fact, a man in another state recently suffered fatal work-related injuries while trimming trees which the Bureau of Labor Statistics ranks as one of the top 10 most dangerous jobs.

The incident happened on a day in mid-May. According to reports, the victim worked for a tree removal service and was completing a landscaping job at the time. The workers were taking down a tree in the area and feeding its parts into a wood chipper. Unfortunately, something in the machine became stuck.

The victim attempted to unclog the machine. However, a piece of metal reportedly became dislodged, which struck the man and caused serious injury. Witnesses reportedly administered first aid, including applying a tourniquet to his arm, but the man ultimately passed away as a result of injuries suffered in the accident.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was called in to investigate. In the meantime, the man who died as a result of work-related injuries is said to leave behind six children. Often such an unexpected loss can create a complicated financial situation for survivors.
