QUÉ ESTÁ EN RIESGO

Los hoteles, restaurantes y establecimientos hosteleros funcionan a base de rapidez, servicio y movimiento constante. Entre bastidores, las cocinas calientes, los suelos resbaladizos, las herramientas afiladas, los carritos pesados y las tareas repetitivas de limpieza crean una exposición diaria a quemaduras, cortes, esguinces y caídas. Al mismo tiempo, las zonas de huéspedes deben permanecer seguras y libres de peligros, ya que un descuido puede lesionar a un cliente y dañar el negocio.

CUÁL ES EL PELIGRO

Los entornos hoteleros se mueven rápidamente. Las cocinas son calurosas y están abarrotadas, los equipos de limpieza trabajan bajo presión y las zonas comunes deben permanecer abiertas y libres de peligros en todo momento. Cuando la velocidad y el servicio prevalecen sobre la precaución, las lesiones se producen rápidamente.

Calor, Cuchillos y Suelos Resbaladizos

Las cocinas industriales combinan altas temperaturas, cuchillos afilados, superficies mojadas y espacios de trabajo reducidos. Las quemaduras por hornos o aceite caliente, los cortes profundos por preparaciones apresuradas, los incendios por grasa y los resbalones en suelos aceitosos son riesgos constantes. Si a esto le sumamos ollas pesadas, cristales rotos y equipos a presión, el margen de error se reduce aún más.

El Desgaste Físico Detrás de los Escenarios

Las tareas de limpieza y servicio implican levantar colchones, empujar carros cargados, agacharse, arrodillarse y trabajar en posturas incómodas. Con el tiempo, esto provoca lesiones de espalda, distensiones de hombro, dolor de rodilla, lesiones por movimientos repetitivos y errores relacionados con la fatiga.

Áreas de Huéspedes: Donde la Seguridad se Une a La Responsabilidad

Los derrames, las alfombras sueltas, la iluminación tenue, los cables sin fijar, los espacios abarrotados o los productos químicos de limpieza almacenados de forma inadecuada pueden causar lesiones repentinas tanto a los huéspedes como al personal.

COMO PROTEGERSE

En el sector hotelero, proteges a dos grupos al mismo tiempo: tu equipo y tus huéspedes. El objetivo no es solo evitar lesiones, sino controlar los riesgos y mantener un servicio fluido y profesional. La seguridad debe adaptarse al ritmo del trabajo.

Mantén el Control en la Cocina

Las cocinas exigen rapidez, pero los movimientos controlados previenen la mayoría de las lesiones.

  • Avisa con un «¡detrás!» o «¡caliente!» cuando te muevas por espacios reducidos.
  • Limpia los derrames inmediatamente y desengrasa los suelos con regularidad.
  • Mantén las asas de las ollas hacia dentro.
  • Utiliza guantes adecuados resistentes al calor y a los cortes.
  • Guarda los cuchillos de forma segura, nunca sueltos en los fregaderos.

Conoce dónde están los extintores y nunca dejes los electrodomésticos de cocina desatendidos.

Protege tu Cuerpo en las Tareas de Limpieza

La repetición es el verdadero peligro. Levanta los colchones con ayuda, empuja los carritos en lugar de tirar de ellos y evita girar el cuerpo mientras transportas cargas. Ajusta tu postura, alterna las tareas cuando sea posible y estira brevemente entre habitaciones. El dolor temprano es una advertencia, no algo que se deba ignorar.

Haz que las Zonas para Huéspedes Sean Seguras

Los huéspedes no ven los peligros como el personal. Revisa los vestíbulos, pasillos, comedores y baños como si los estuvieras viendo por primera vez.

  • Pon señales claras de piso mojado durante la limpieza
  • Asegura las alfombras, cables y tapetes sueltos
  • Mantén despejadas las salidas y escaleras
  • Guarda los productos químicos lejos del acceso público
  • Controla la iluminación en los pasillos y áreas de estacionamiento

Cuando Aumenta la Carga de Trabajo

La falta de personal, las horas pico en el comedor o los eventos concurridos aumentan rápidamente el riesgo. Reduzca la velocidad de sus movimientos, no su atención. Las acciones controladas previenen quemaduras, esguinces, caídas y lesiones a los huéspedes.

CONCLUSIÓN

En el sector hotelero, la seguridad forma parte del servicio. Si permaneces alerta, controlas tu ritmo y proteges tanto a tu equipo como a tus huéspedes, evitarás el tipo de lesiones que perturban las operaciones y dañan la confianza. Un turno sin contratiempos no solo consiste en ofrecer un servicio excelente, sino también en que todo el mundo salga sano y salvo al final del mismo.
