Electrical Safety Shock Arc Flash and Lock out Tag out

El interruptor de corriente aguas arriba ha sido apagado, la orden de trabajo dice que el circuito está desenergizado, y se supone que la tarea tomará cinco minutos. No hay candado en el desconectador. No hay etiqueta. El trabajador no verificó el voltaje con un medidor — la luz indicadora del panel ya estaba apagada, y eso pareció suficiente. Lleva gafas de seguridad y guantes de cuero, pero sin chaqueta con clasificación de arco, sin protector facial, sin guantes con clasificación de voltaje. El destornillador resbala contra una barra colectora expuesta y contacta la carcasa. Un cortocircuito se enciende. Una bola de fuego a 35,000°F estalla desde el panel.
La electricidad no se anuncia. El panel no te advierte que todavía está activo, el medidor no se prueba solo, y el circuito no deja de ser peligroso solo porque el interruptor esté apagado. Un trabajador que asume, un candado faltante, un segundo de contacto — y una reparación rutinaria se convierte en una investigación de fatalidad. Bloquea y etiqueta cada fuente de energía. Verifica el voltaje con un medidor conocido como bueno, luego prueba el medidor nuevamente en una fuente activa. Usa el EPP con clasificación de arco que la tarea requiere, siempre. Trata cada conductor como activo hasta que hayas demostrado lo contrario — porque esa prueba es lo único que está entre tú y un destello de arco. El panel no perdona la complacencia.
