Qué son los trastornos traumáticos acumulativos?

Esta hoja informativa describe los Trastornos de Trauma Acumulativo (CTD), proporciona información sobre algunos tipos de CTD y sus síntomas más comunes, aborda quiénes están en riesgo de desarrollarlos y explica cómo prevenir los CTD.

Trastornos de trauma acumulativo (CTD por sus siglas en Ingles) también conocidos como lesiones por esfuerzo repetitivo, trastornos de movimiento repetitivo, síndrome de sobreuso y trastornos musculoesqueléticos relacionados con el trabajo. Los CTD son la mayor causa de enfermedades ocupacionales en los Estados Unidos y el tipo de enfermedad ocupacional más frecuente en Connecticut. Las CTD son lesiones del sistema musculoesquelético, que incluye articulaciones, músculos, tendones, ligamentos, nervios y vasos sanguíneos. Las CTD suelen ser causadas por una combinación de los siguientes factores de riesgo:

  • movimientos repetitivos
  • Esfuerzos enérgicos: tirar, empujar, levantar y agarrar
  • posturas incómodas – posiciones del cuerpo que no son la posición natural de descanso
  • posturas estáticas – posiciones del cuerpo mantenidas sin moverse
  • la compresión mecánica de los tejidos blandos de la mano contra los bordes o las crestas, como el uso de herramientas u objetos que presionan contra la palma de la mano
  • movimiento rápido de las partes del cuerpo
  • vibración, especialmente en presencia de condiciones de frío
  • estrés mental
  • La falta de un tiempo de recuperación suficiente (descansos, días libres), lo que aumentará el riesgo de desarrollar un CTD por cualquiera de los factores mencionados.

Los trastornos de trauma acumulativo afectan principalmente a las extremidades superiores e incluyen trastornos como el síndrome del túnel carpiano, la tendinitis de la muñeca, el atrapamiento del nervio cubital, la epicondilitis, la tendinitis del hombro y syndrome. la vibración mano-brazo syndrome. Aunque las lesiones de espalda están excluidas de la definición de los CTD, es importante señalar que también suelen ser el resultado de factores de riesgo similares. Aunque algunas ocupaciones tienen más factores de riesgo que otras para el posible desarrollo de los CTD, esos factores de riesgo pueden reducirse. Es importante señalar que los CTD son prevenibles.
