Fuentes de lesiones causadas por buques autónomos y teledirigidos.

  1. El mal funcionamiento o fallo en los equipos o sistemas de un buque autónomo o teledirigido, puede provocar accidentes y lesiones.
  2. Los sistemas anticolisión, las colisiones y los encallamientos pueden producir lesiones debidas a errores en la interpretación de los datos de los sensores, a un comportamiento inesperado del buque o a un error de apreciación en las decisiones de navegación.
  3. Existe riesgo de resbalones, tropiezos y caídas debido a superficies irregulares, movimientos inesperados, iluminación inadecuada o errores humanos.
  4. Los buques autónomos y teledirigidos participan en operaciones de manipulación de carga que pueden provocar accidentes, caídas o ser golpeados por objetos en movimiento.
  5. Los errores humanos en la supervisión, el control o la toma de decisiones pueden provocar accidentes y lesiones.
  6. Pueden producirse lesiones debido a la necesidad de una evacuación rápida, la exposición a sustancias peligrosas o las dificultades para acceder a los equipos de emergencia.
  7. Si un pirata informático consigue el control no autorizado de un buque autónomo o teledirigido, puede causar daños intencionados, poniendo en peligro la seguridad del buque.
  8. También pueden producirse lesiones durante las operaciones en tierra de los buques autónomos y teledirigidos. Las actividades de mantenimiento, reparación o revisión pueden plantear riesgos si no se siguen los protocolos y precauciones de seguridad adecuados.

ESTADÍSTICAS

  • Es una opinión ampliamente adoptada que una parte significativa de todos los accidentes en el mar implican una acción humana errónea. Las cifras oscilan aproximadamente entre el 60% y el 90%.
  • Un total de 3306 vidas se han perdido en el periodo 2018. Los datos muestran que el 83% de las víctimas mortales están asociadas a buques que se perdieron debido al accidente. Las únicas excepciones son los accidentes de incendio/explosión, para los cuales solo el 42% de las víctimas mortales están asociadas a buques que se perdieron debido al accidente.
  • EMSA registró 696 víctimas mortales, de las cuales 388 son víctimas mortales por accidentes de navegación y 308 son víctimas mortales por desviación. Cabe esperar que las víctimas mortales de la base de datos IHS sólo representen aproximadamente el 55% de las víctimas mortales, ya que se excluyen las víctimas mortales por desviación.
  • Según los datos recogidos por MaritimeExecutive.com, en 2018 se produjeron 24 víctimas mortales relacionadas con la carga a granel. Para poner esta cifra en perspectiva, en 2018 se registraron 125 accidentes mortales, lo que significa que el 20 % de los accidentes mortales se produjeron solo en 2018.
