Statistics
- Approximately 5,250 American workers died on the job in 2018, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses. While a small business might never see a fatality, don’t be surprised if one or more of your employees are among the 2.8 million workers who suffer from an injury or illness working at private employers each year.
- Some 2.2 million people die of work-related accidents and diseases each year, the International Labour Office (ILO) said in a report issued at the 17th World Congress on Safety and Health at Work, adding this number may be vastly under estimated due to poor reporting and coverage systems in many countries.
