  • Limitaciones en la Fiabilidad de los Sensores: Los EPP inteligentes dependen de sensores que pueden fallar, desviarse o proporcionar lecturas inexactas si no se calibran o mantienen adecuadamente.

ESTADÍSTICAS

  • En Estados Unidos, la falta de uso o el uso inadecuado del EPP sigue siendo un factor que contribuye a un número significativo de lesiones y muertes en el lugar de trabajo, incluidos los casos en los que el EPP estaba disponible pero no se utilizó de manera eficaz (OSHA, 2021-2023).
  • Los datos de EE. UU. muestran que el contacto con objetos, equipos y la exposición ambiental —riesgos que el EPP está diseñado para mitigar— siguen siendo las principales causas de lesiones laborales (Oficina de Estadísticas Laborales de EE. UU., 2022–2023).
  • En Canadá, el equipo de protección personal se identifica como una medida de control fundamental para prevenir lesiones; sin embargo, siguen produciéndose incidentes cuando el EPP no se selecciona, utiliza o mantiene adecuadamente (Asociación de Juntas de Indemnización Laboral de Canadá, últimos años).
  • Los informes de seguridad laboral de EE. UU. indican que las soluciones de seguridad basadas en la tecnología, incluidos los dispositivos portátiles, se están adoptando cada vez más, pero requieren una capacitación y un mantenimiento adecuados para ser efectivas (NIOSH y OSHA, 2021–2023).
